Important information for breeders.

A large part of our practice has been built around helping reputable breeders improve their program and to ensure them the highest chance of success with their reproductive efforts. In addition to being an AAHA accredited practice and an ICSB Semen Bank for Eastern Ontario, we have cumulatively over 25 years experience in veterinary reproduction and assisted breeding techniques. Please keep in mind the following requirements if you are a breeder looking to establish a veterinary relationship with our practice.

Book an exam.

In order to establish a veterinary relationship, and for us to be able to provide reproductive services, an exam is required for every dog that you wish to breed. This is a legal requirement established by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario. Please contact us well in advance of any planned breedings to book an exam.

Book progesterone tests (females).

At the first signs of heat contact the clinic to book a time for your first progesterone test. This is typically 4-5 days after the first signs of heat.

Coordinate with your veterinarian.

Our veterinarians will provide guidance with regards to optimal breeding times based on the results of the progesterone testing. They will also provide guidance relating to birth planning and scheduling a c-section if required. It is important that you keep in regular contact with your vet throughout your dog’s breeding cycle so that we can plan appropriately, and provide the best chances for a successful breeding.
